WELCOME TO SECULAR SISTERS OF MARY MOTHER OF THE CHURCH FAMILY

                                           CORE IDENTITY

YOU ARE NOT ALONE, WE ARE HERE TO LISTEN!

The Secular Sisters of Mary Mother of the  Churc, is a humanitarian organization dedicated to offering empathetic listening to individuals who have no one else to share their burdens with. We focused particularly on the underprivileged, widows, and widowers and the forgotten ones that suffer in silence,

In today"s world, many people are surrounded by others yet still feel deeply lonely. They bottled up their problems because society fails to pay attention or truly listen. Our mission is founded entirly on filling this gap by listening with deep empathy. We actively seek out these individuals in homes, on streets, and within our workplces, often identifying them through their physical appearance, expressions, or facial looks. The absence of  a listen ear has led many to commit suicide, fail ill or meet premature deaths.

The Charism of Secular Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church.

1 THE CHARISM OF LISTENING; The primary charism of the Institute is to provide a dedicated, non-judgmental, and deeply empathetic presence to individuals  with particular attention to the Underprivileged Widows,  Widowers and the forgotten ones who suffer from severe loneliness, isolation, and unshared personal burdens.

2. PREVENTION OF HARM : Recognizing that emotional neglect leads to spiritual despair, physical illnesses like heart attacks, and the tragedy of suicide, the sisters shall dedicate their lives to mitigating these societal crises through timely intervention.

3, COLLABORATIVE RESOLUTION: The mission extends beyond passive hearing. Sisters are bound to actively cooperate with the beneficiary to seek permanent, practical, and spiritual solutions to their grievances.

Our unique gift to the world is the charism of Empathic Listening. Following the example of Mary, who quietly pondered all things in her heart, we offer a ministry of absolute, sacred presence. We draw deep inspiration from Mary at the Wedding of Cana, where she closely observed the couple and noticed they were deeply troubled. She approached them, listened with profound empathy, and acted to help to find a solution to their problem.  Guided by her gentle attentiveness, we commit ourselves to hearing the unspoken needs of others and providing a sanctuary of compassionate support.

To listen empathically means that we do not listen to judge, advice or preach. We listen simply to receive. We believe that  being truly heard is the first step towards healing, and by listening without conditions, we make Christ’s tender love tangible to those who suffer in silence.

                                                                                   SPIRITUALITY OF SSMMC

Our spirituality is deeply rooted in the life of the virgin Mary, who exemplifies the quality of a great listener and a provider of solutions, as demostrated at the wedding at Cana. Guided by her example. we do not simply listen with empathy; we also follow up with those we serve to help them find permanent, lasting solutions to their challenges.

MISSION OF SSMMC

The mission of the Secular Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church is to offer compassionate, empathetic listening to the underprivileged widows, widowers, and the forgotten who suffer in silence. In a busy world where many are surrounded by crowds yet trapped in profound isolation, we step into the gap to prevent the despair, illness, and tragedy born of unheard suffering. Rooted in the spiritual example of the Virgin Mary-who listened deeply and brought divine intervention to the Wedding at Cana-we seek out the lonely in homes, on streets, and in workplaces. We look past the exterior to see their pain, hear their unspoken burdens, and actively follow up tp provide lasting, permanent solutions that restore their dignity and hope

While our doors and hearts are open to all, our sisters are specifically sent to margins to finds the forgotten ones. We dedicate our lives to walking alongside:

- Underprivileged widows and widowers: Those navigating the crushing grief of losing a spouse,  often while facing financial hardship and the sudden emptiness of a quiet home.

- The Entirely Isolated: Individuals who have outlived their support systems,  live alone or feel invisible to a fast-paced world.

-  The unheard: Those who deep emotional burdens,  memories,  and stories, but have no one left to share  then with.

Our daily life

The daily life of a Secular sister of SSMMC is a harmonious blend of completive prayer and active, compassionate presence in the world. As Secular consecrated women, we do not withdraw from society; instead, we live and work within ordinary environments-our workplaces, neighborhoods, and local communities-to remain accessible to those in need. Each day begins and ends with personal and communal prayer, drawing spiritual strength from the Eucharist and the exemplary listening heart of Mary.

Throughout the day, our routine is defined by intentional alertness. We maintain a sharp, prayerful awareness of the people around  us, observing facial expressions and appearances to identify individuals carrying heavy, unspoken burdens. Our daily ministry is carried outon the streets, in family homes, and in professional settings, dedicating hours to listening without judgement and coordinating practical, permanent relief for those we serve.

Vocations

A vocation to the SSMMC family is a unique call to consecrated secularity, specifically designed fro women who desire to be the listening heart of Christ in the middle of the modern world. It is a calling for those who possess deep natural empathy, a sharp intuition for the pain of others, and a profound maternal desire to comfort the lonely, the  widowed, and the abandoned. Candidates are  women who feel moved by the Holy Spirit to live out vows of consecration while retaining their secular professional lives, using their daily jobs as a platform to encounter the suffering. Drawn to the quiet, powerful advocacy of Mary at Cana, a sister answers this call by offering her ears, her time, and her life to save others from the brink of despair and to guide them toward permanent healing.

Our story

The Story of the Secular Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church

Our Beginning
The Secular Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, arose from a profound call to comfort the most isolated hearts in our society. Inspired by the attentive, proactive presence of Mary at the Wedding of Cana, our community sets out to encounter those carrying heavy burdens. Just as Mary carefully observed the appearance of the people, noticed they were troubled, asked about their needs, and listened to their problems before following through to secure a permanent solution, we strive to bring that same active comfort to the world. We chose a secular consecration to live directly among the people—serving as a bridge of comfort between the Church and those who feel entirely left behind, with particular attention to underprivileged widows, Widowers and the isolated or forgotten ones.

                                 HOW WE SERVE

As secular sisters, we take vows of consecration and we  do wear simple habits and  our community life is optional. We dress in simple, everyday clothing so we can meet people naturally exactly where they are.You will find our sisters visiting modest homes, sitting on porch steps, gathering in community centers, and walking through neighborhoods. We do not bring programs; we bring ourselves. By sitting down with a lonely widow or an isolated widower, sharing a cup of tea, and listening deeply to their life stories, we remind them that they are seen by God and treasured by the Church.

The dedication of the Secular Sisters to their faith and their communities is truly inspiring. They exemplify how one can live a consecrated life while being fully engaged with the world.
